BRING YOUR BEST*7* Showcase 2022

Dancers in the current Bring Your Best 7 Series shared the fruits of their work in our annual show, held Sept. 23-24, 2022. BYB is an performance coaching series, which I've been running online since 2017, based on the Performance Prep series I ran live in New York City for ten years starting in 2003.  This year's showcase features performances in Egyptian baladi, fusion, and modern Oriental dance.

Friends and family, colleagues and members of the dance community joined us for the shows, live on Zoom! (Register below to watch the recording!)

Please donate to our equity scholarship fund (in ANY amount - all welcome) It supports the dancers who benefit, and my coaching work as a whole. I match all donations 1:1, so your gift is doubled in its effect. A big part of my mission is to empower dancers to take a larger role onstage and in the community, and your donation helps that work go farther.

Many thanks for your interest and your support!  - Ranya

SHARE THE LOVE:
While admission to this show is free, you can make a donation of any amount you are comfortable with, for the Ginger City equity scholarship fund, to benefit dancers in the next coaching series!

*Any* amount is genuinely appreciated, and will be matched 1:1 by me. (For example, if you donate $25, that turns into $50 of scholarship assistance.) More than $2,500 of scholarship aid has been shared so far since we started the fund. Even if you can't attend the show live, your support is welcome, and you can get access to a recording to enjoy on your own time. More fun to attend live if you can!  ðŸ˜€  Many thanks!   - Ranya

BYB*7* Dancer Bios

Alejandra (Maryland) has been dancing since the early 2000s. She fell in love with Egyptian music, and enjoys dancing and learning.

Andrea (California) resumed dancing last year after a dozen-year break. She lives in Alameda, California with one other human, two chickens, and a strong energetic puppy.

Barbara (Germany) from Hungary, based in Germany, is a dance and movement enthusiast.  She has been learning bellydance from the Salimpour School for nine years and various forms of contemporary dance for fifteen years. Seeing the improvement in her stage presence after taking courses from Ranya, she decided to challenge herself with creating a fusion choreography in the Bring Your Best 7 coaching series under her guidance.

Dominique Moon (North Carolina) is a multi-disciplinary artist rooted in the feminine mysteries.  She has been studious in Egyptian dance for 6 years.  As a dancer, Dominique is admired for her embodiment in an earthiness that oozes with sensuality. Dominique resides in Wilson, North Carolina.

FiFi Faatina (Florida) lives in Naples, Florida.  FiFi has been bellydancing for twenty years.  She enjoys rehabbing vintage costumes in her spare time.  When FiFi is not dancing, she runs an executive coaching firm with her husband.  Together they have one son living in New York, a Jack Russell rescue (Patch) and two birds (Ollie and Romeo).  She believes her success and happiness in her business and personal life are directly related to her passion for belly dancing!

Jane Tang (Hong Kong) started bellydance more than ten years ago.  Her favorite style is Egyptian bellydance.  Jane has been a member of all of Ranya’s previous Bring Your Best coaching series and nearly all of the previous Baladi Coaching Series... and she is happy to be here for this one too.

Majida Wahid (New Zealand) has been performing Middle Eastern dance for longer than she cares to admit.  Egyptian bellydance is her passion and she is delighted to now have the opportunity to undertake training with Ranya in Egyptian Style Bellydance.  Five years ago, she started learning to play Middle Eastern music on a quartertone keyboard with the aim to offer live music for other dancers and to enhance her own musical studies.  She is also hoping to make it to Bahar Bayram in Australia and dreams of visiting Egypt.

Marrakesh (New Jersey) has embarked in various dance training over the years including ballet and modern dance. Her exploration has led her to the world of Middle Eastern dance which has granted her the privilege to perform at a variety of theatrical and local events for over a decade.  She continues her training under the tutelage of professional teachers and looks forward to continue sharing her passions and discoveries with her students.

Tammy (Pennsylvania) has been studying bellydance for  seventeen years now, and has been training with Ranya for over two years.  She has a special passion for Egyptian style dance, and is very gracious to have the opportunity to study under Ranya.  She travels to Egypt regularly to enhance her studies as well.  She performs regularly, leads her own dance troupe, and teaches beginner classes.  She enjoys sharing this beautiful dance.

Ranya Renée (New York) began her performing career as a young actress, and has been bellydancing since 1990.  She specializes in traditional Egyptian oriental, baladi, and folkloric dance, performance-skills training and breathwork, and teaches internationally. Her DVDs  (The Baladi, Modern Oriental, and Bellydance Taqasim) have earned rave reviews from bellydancers worldwide.  In 2015 Ranya completed an M.A. in psychology, focusing on aspects of cognitive psychology and embodiment in the context of performance.  In addition to bellydancing, Ranya now teaches Pilates, Barre, and yoga, and coaches performers and presenters in increasing their stage presence through physical and mental training. Ranya’s online Ginger City studio offers live and prerecorded courses on baladi, Breathwork for Performance, Arabic musicality, and other topics, along with coaching group series, talks and discussions, and programs for teachers.
